Last year our team published a paper in BMJ Nutrition. To our astonishment it became the most popular paper this journal has ever published and was picked up by The Times. The Daily Express and other news outlets all over the world. In it we shared exactly how we had used diet to improve the health of hundreds of our NHS patients. The idea is to use ‘lifestyle medicine’ instead of ‘lifelong medication’. Central to this is motivating people to improve their diet while helping them understand the benefits of nutrient dense foods. Last time I spoke at IHCAN three years ago we had 84 people in drug free diabetes remission now we have 137 and we have learnt a lot more.

About Dr David Unwin
Dr. David Unwin, MD, is an award-winning general practitioner (or family doctor) known for pioneering the low-carb approach in the UK. Through the years, Dr. Unwin has been highly recognized for his work within his field.
In 2015, Dr. Unwin was made a UK Royal College of General Practitioners expert clinical advisor in 2015 for his dedicated efforts within the areas of patient communication and type 2 diabetes.
Then, in 2016, Dr. Unwin won the prestigious NHS Innovator of the Year award for his work with diabetes patients.

‘Light and the microbiome: how light exposure at inappropriate times can disrupt our health’
Adriano will give us the first look at results from his current research at the University of Oxford’s famed sleep and circadian rhythm research lab, sharing the latest high-quality scientific evidence on the impact of light on our metabolism and gut microbiome.
Adriano is a Functional Nutritionist pursuing an MSc in sleep medicine in the Clinical Neuroscience department at the University of Bern, Switzerland. Right now he is working on research projects at Oxford with the world’s leading authorities on sleep and circadian rhythm: Prof Russell Foster and Prof Stuart Peirson.
Adriano is also the author of a breakthrough systematic review paper, recently published in Nutrients, which is the first to identify the links between the gut microbiome, sleep disorders and Metabolic Syndrome.
Adriano told us: “Of all the microbes that live symbiotically with humans, our gut contains the highest numbers..This gut microbiome is in contact communication with our brain. Disruption of this relationship between our gut and its microbiome can lead to several conditions, such as metabolic syndrome and sleep disorders”.

About Adriano dos Santos, BSc, rNutr, AFMCP, MBOG, RSM, ESIM
Adriano dos Santos, BSc, rNutr, AFMCP, MBOG, RSM, ESIM, is a functional nutritionist with a practice in the Hague, pursuing an MSc in sleep medicine in the Clinical Neuroscience department at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He is currently involved in research at the University of Oxford, working on sleep, circadian rhythm and the microbiome, with Prof Russell Foster.
He has first degrees in sports science (University of São Paulo, Brazil) and nutrition (Kingston University, London), and is a Registered Nutritionist (rNutr) with the Association for Nutrition, a graduate of the Institute for Functional Medicine’s AFMCP (Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice) program, and trained in Nutrigenomics and Pharmacogenomics at the DNAlife Institute.
He is interviewed in depth in the March issue of IHCAN.
‘Detoxifying Humanity’
Fabio was instrumental in setting up ZeroSpike, an Italian, non-profit organisation focused on finding solutions to the toxic spike protein that has become a huge problem after COVID-19 and the mRNA vaccine treatments that introduce it into the body.
This is a controversial subject. ZeroSpike has been cautious and selective in sharing their research. It is a testimony to how ahead of the curve IHCAN’s readers are that Fabio and ZeroSpike have agreed to use the IHCAN Summit for his first live public presentation on the harm being done by spike protein – and the natural remedy that detoxifies it.
ZeroSpike initiated pioneering investigations into spike protein, including brand new “docking” studies that show exactly how it locks onto cells. As a result, Fabio’s international and inter-disciplinary team of researchers discovered that the food supplement N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) denatures the spike protein, revealed NAC’s mechanism of action and found a way to boost its effects..
In a “Detoxifying Humanity” presentation, Fabio will review the latest research on the pathologies spike protein is causing, address findings that suggest “shedding” of the protein from vaccinated to non-vaccinated people is a genuine problem, and explain how practitioners can use “augmented” NAC alongside existing protocols to restore health.
He will also reveal details of the world’s first urine test for spike protein. This is just becoming available to practitioners in the UK and will enable compelling “before and after” comparisons, as well as a way to monitor treatment.
